Customize Your myfamily.com Site

Start off the new year by creating a fresh new look for your myfamily.com site with our easy-to-use site customization tools. With just a few clicks, you can completely change the look of your site by choosing one of our professionally designed site themes or by creating your own using your site's Custom Theme Builder.

Your family is unique, and a custom site theme can make your family web site as unique as its members by enabling you to choose your own site colors, upload your own graphics, and change your site's font sizes and colors.

Getting Started:
On your site's home page, click the 'Change Site Theme' link in the top right corner. Remember that only Site Administrators can change a site's theme. If you're not an administrator, you can still give this a try by starting a new site (it's free) and customizing it however you'd like.

Choose Your Theme:
There are 3 different ways you can customize your site...
1   Select from one of our professionally designed themes (MyFamily, Winter, Mosaic, Charcoal or Butterfly).
2   Select one of the custom themes that we've added to the file cabinet of our demo site. Just download a theme from the file cabinet and then upload it to your own site by using the Custom Theme Builder. Simply click on the "Import Theme..." link, select the theme that you downloaded, and then click "Continue". Your site will automatically be updated!

The Import/Export feature also allows you to easily share your custom themes with others. Once you've created one, click on "Export Theme..." and save the theme to your computer. Now you can send it to friends or use it on your other sites using the "Import Theme..." link.
3   Create your own custom theme using the Theme Builder.

•   Fonts: Select the type of font you want to use and the size.
•   Images: Upload and align your own images and photos to use them as the Masthead Background, Body Background and Module Background.
•   Colors: Choose the Primary and Accent Colors for your site. These will affect borders, menus, text and links.
The Custom Theme Builder will soon become a premium feature that is only available with paid site subscriptions. However, right now it is available on all sites for evaluation, so be sure to check it out. For more information on myfamily 2.0 subscriptions, visit the Subscription Center.

How Do You Use myfamily.com?

submitted by:
Joyce O'Connor

"Our family's website has been in place since February of 2002 and it keeps family members who live across the U.S. in touch with each other. We also have relatives in England, Ireland and Iraq who keep abreast of family news. The pictures are a favorite. New babies, graduations, new houses, growing kids seem to be popular, plus events like our annual family reunion and Christmas parties are all announced on the website. We have documented our family's history for the past five years with myfamily.com.

I also have a myfamily site for my high school graduation class. It started out with the Class of '68 and now has expanded to many, many graduates from my high school from various years. Old photos, photos of grandchildren, stories about our teachers and stories about what's going on at the school today seem to be the most popular. We've also heard from people who we hadn't seen or heard from since graduation, all due to the communication on the website."
